Selectmen Meeting Minutes
Thursday– January 27, 2005 – 5:45 pm
Present: Chairman, William Brooks; Selectman; George Rainier; Selectman, Conrad Dumas
The meeting was called to order at 5:45 pm

No appointments were scheduled – the selectmen are having a working session only
On – going matters:
Recycling Bay – Recycling Bay update – No insulation is to be ordered until it is approved by town meeting vote.
Other Business:
Minutes - Accept minutes of January 20, 2005 Selectmen Meeting as written.
Selectmen Approval –
· P/R, A/P & Invoices –
· Administrative Assistant requested to attend weekly Kiwanis Meetings. Deb indicated she is a member and the meetings are located in Peterborough; the Kiwanis donate a lot to local communities. They do include Greenfield in their donations. The meetings are on Wed. between 12:00 –1:00. Discussion followed.
Decision: Motion by Selectman Rainier to allow the Administrative Assistant to attend these weekly meetings provided it does not interfere with her job, and she documents the meetings. Seconded by Selectman Dumas. Voted: Affirmatively – no further discussion -
Mail –
Timber Cut – Discussion followed regarding if a bond should be placed on a cut located on R3-Lot 1 or if 10% of estimated tax be requested. Estimated tax/bond will be $1,819.00. Selectmen changed access to include and Old Bennington Road, as the company logging has already posted signage. A bond of $1,819.00 will be requested.
Budget-
Selectmen reviewed proposed 2005 budget
DSL – Administrative Assistant noted to Selectmen that DSL has been ordered for a free 30-day trial. Verizon indicated there should be no problems, however if it doesn’t work out we can cancel it with no penalty. The operating budget is reflective of the necessary budget increase; it has been included under the computer support/maintenance line. The library also has signed up for a free 30-day trial of DSL.
General Gov’t Buildings – The DES recently ordered the Underground Storage Tank Tightness Test– the cost was $450.00 this line item needs to be increased to reflect this, this had not been budget for earlier, as we did not anticipate this expense.
Selectmen reviewed salary increases within budgets. The Selectmen approved the following wage/salary increases: 5% for Parks & Rec. Director, Bookkeeper, Police Officer & Highway Laborer, Road Agent is to receive a 6% increase.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
The next scheduled Selectmen’s Meeting is Thursday, February 3rd, 2005 at 5:45 pm.
